La Sagra della Castagna

A FONTANEGLI , piccolo paese della Val Bisagno, ogni anno nella terza domenica di ottobre, la locale UNIONE SPORTIVA FONTANEGLI ‘74 organizza sul campo sportivo una delle più folcloristiche manifestazioni: La Sagra della Castagna

Nata per tenere vive le tradizioni paesane di un tempo, ma soprattutto i cibi di un tempo, valorizzando i pochi frutti della terra di questo periodo come la "castagna" che è stata per secoli uno dei nutrimenti principali nell’economia contadina. Ormai da anni centinaia di persone partecipano con gioia alla manifestazione, per poter assaporare le Castagne di Fontanegli, semplicemente cotte a caldarroste o lavorate in ottimi dolci elaborate delle donne del luogo. M a il clou della festa è attorno a mezzogiorno, quando comincerà la degustazione di piatti preparati con la gustosa farina dolce, accanto ai quali troveremo tutti i prodotti tipici come: “Le Picagge matte” Fettuccine impastate a mano con farina di castagna al pesto di basilico locale, “Polenta al sugo di fungo”, porcini raccolti nei nostri boschi, “ “Maxi torta alla castagna” e “Castagnaccio”
Dalle ore15.00 “Caldarroste” “Focaccette”, “Cuculli con farina di castagne” e castagnaccio, Il tutto innaffiato da ottimo vino. La giornata sarà inoltre allietata da musica dal vivo e giochi vari anche per i bambini

In FONTANEGLI, a small village in Val Bisagno, the third Sunday of October of every year the local sports union, UNIONE SPORTIVA FONTANEGLI ‘74, organise the Sagra della Castagna, (Chestnut fair) on the local sports field. This is one of the most folkloric events.
This fair started to keep the old traditions and the traditional foods alive and to give value to one of the few produce of this season, the chestnut, which has been one of the staple foods of farmers' life for centuries. It is years now that hundreds of people are happy to take part in this event, simply to taste the Fontanegli chestnut, either roasted on its own or as part of elaborate sweets. The best part of the event comes around midday, when everyone can taste all the foods prepared with the sweet chestnut flour. Together with those we will also find other typical dishes like “Picagge matte” handmade fettuccine knead into dough with the chestnut flour and cooked with local pesto, “Polenta al sugo di fungo”, cornflour pudding with fresh mushrooms sauce, “Maxi torta alla castagna”, massive chestnut cake, and “Castagnaccio”, a typical chestnut sweet.
From 3:00pm, “Caldarroste”, roasted chestnuts, “Focaccette”, chestnut pancakes, “Cuculli con farina di castagne” cuculli with chestnut flour, and "castagnaccio", all served with excellent local wine. Throughout the day, live music and games for adults and children alike.

Mangialunga

Gastronomical walk with stops in the different areas of Fontanegli (GE), where you will savour the excellent regional dishes, from the aperitif to the sweets, in a 10-leg walk with music and fine wine.

Festa campestre

L'Unione Sportiva Fontanegli 1974 organizza presso il campo sportivo di Fontanegli la "FESTA CAMPESTRE" tutte le sere e la domenica anche a mezzogiorno aperto servizio ristorante con specialità Genovesi, tra cui i famosi ravioli di Fontanegli e l'ottima frittura mista, dalle 21.00 si balla con orchestre dal vivo, giochi, lotterie e servizio bar,ottimo vino e birra, buon divertimento, non serve la prenotazione. Periodo: ultimo weekend di giugno, primo weekend di luglio

Field fair
The Unione Sportiva Fontanegli 1974 organise at the local sports field the "FESTA CAMPESTRE". Every evening and Sunday lunch-time a restaurant service is open, with all specialities from Genoa, among which the famous "Ravioli di Fontanegli", Fontanegli's ravioli, and the excellent "frittura mista", mixed fried fish and shellfish. from 9:00pm there will be live music, games, lottery and bar service, great beer and wine, lots of fun.
